GIFTS TO THE CRISIS CENTER

Monetary donations to the shelter are welcome. Many women and children come to the shelter with what they have and can be completely without money during this initial period. It is therefore very nice to be able to give good gifts to mothers and children in such a difficult situation – and it can be anything from strollers and diaper bags, toys, sports equipment, toiletries, games or even good experiences such as tickets to theater performances for children, extra good food at events that the shelter invites to, barbecues, visits to water parks, bowling, Tusenfryd or a small holiday trip for mothers and children. When the children move from the center, gift money is used to give the youngest children a nice toy that they can take with them to their new home.

Would you like to make a monetary donation? Get in touch!

We accept toys and clothing when they are in good condition, mainly new items. Textile toys such as teddy bears, etc. must be new for hygienic reasons.

Write an email to post@krisesenteret-moss.no in advance.

“Thank you so much for this wonderful day…”

It's summer and it's sunny.

I feel happy and grateful. With me on today's trip to Tusenfryd I have a cluster of expectant children and happy mothers. None of the children have ever been to Tusenfryd.

All of “my” children have experienced violence or seen their mothers subjected to violence, and they have gone through tough times. Some of them have moved to new homes, but life can still be challenging and partly marked by poverty. They wear clothes that the shelter has received from donors, and in the children's rooms there is furniture, toys and equipment that have been bought with gift money.

A little girl screams with joy as she sits on the merry-go-round for the sixth time. A small hand pushes into mine; the girl doesn't quite dare to sit on any merry-go-round yet, and I sit in the ladybug car with her. This is a great declaration of trust. This is the same girl who screams "Haunted house! Haunted house!" Just two months ago, she was afraid of her own shadow and slept with the light on.

Later there is a pizza lunch. One of the boys stuffs himself with one piece after another. He usually gets food from the Salvation Army.

A mother gives me a hug. "Thank you so much for this wonderful day," she says. "Don't thank me, thank the kids from Ekholt school," I reply, "and Hoppern… and all the others!"

I'm now sitting with Baby, who is five months old, so his mom can take a ride on the Thundercoaster. Baby is gurgling happily and thankfully doesn't know that he has nowhere to stay.

There are so many children I get to meet in my job and whom I get to make happy in this way. Maybe it will be Tusenfryd next year too.

Greetings from the child welfare educator at the Crisis Center in Moss
